Review For Dell Latitude D600 Pentium M 1.6 GHz Laptop, 512 MB, 40 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CDRW
This machine is perfectly suited for the business user. It is very lightweight at only 5.3 pounds and offers the user a big and spacious keyboard. You will also find a few different input devices on this machine. In the center of the keyboard there is a pointing stick and at the bottom of the machine where your wrists sit there is a touch pad. Each of these different methods has its own set of mouse keys. This configuration of the D600 has a fair amount of speed and offers decent performance for the business user. A user who is looking for a laptop for more media intense use might find it to be a bit sluggish. However, if you are traveling on the road and need a laptop for business on the run, this machine will more than handle your purpose.
Some users found the keyboard difficult to type on although it is a very generous size. The pointing device also gave some users a bit of difficulty. Many users found that the left hand side of the laptop heated up to uncomfortable temperatures. For those who plan to use the laptop for extended periods of time it might not be the best choice because of the heating problem. There have also been reports of hard drive failures in these machines. To some users of this laptop, it does not appear particularly durable and able to withstand hard use.
You should consider the way that you intend to use the laptop before you run out and buy the Dell D600. For corporations that are looking to use these for business outside of the office, it is perfectly adequate. For those that are planning a more extended use of their laptop and plan to use it in place of a desktop, you might want to keep on looking.
